About this site
Kikitai is written by Ritsu, from Japan. It covers Japanese doujin works — mostly audio, some manga — for people who want to buy them but cannot read the shop pages.
The one thing this site does that others do not
Every work gets a “Japanese needed” rating: barely any, some, or a lot. It is not on DLsite. It is not in any database. It cannot be scraped, because the only way to judge it is to listen to the sample and decide. That judgement is the product here.
When I have not listened properly yet, it says not rated yet. I would rather leave it blank than guess.
What I do and do not claim
- I write from the free samples, the shop’s own description, and the numbers on the product page. Where a fact comes from one of those, I say which.
- Sales counts, ratings and prices are shown with the date they were checked. Japanese shops discount constantly, so a price from last month means nothing.
- Star ratings are shown together with how many people rated it and how many wrote an actual review. A 4.9 from six people is not a 4.9.
- For physical goods I do not review how they feel. I have not tested them, and I am not going to write as if I had. What I can do is convert the Japanese product data, work out the real landed cost including shipping, and summarise what Japanese buyers say.
Money
This site intends to earn commission from shop links. Where that is live, it is stated in the box at the top of every article. It does not change which works get covered — nothing here is paid for by a shop or a circle, and no one gets to see an article before it goes up.
Contact
If you are a circle or a shop and want something about your work corrected or removed, this address is the way to do it. Say which page and what is wrong, and I will fix or pull it.
