It is an unusually generous trial, and I spent an afternoon being wrong about it.

The number I refused to believe

The measurement came back at 80 characters per speech-minute. Ordinary Japanese runs at 300 to 400. Taken at face value, that makes this one of the least verbal works I have looked at.

I did not believe it, because of how the trial opens, straight from the transcript:

Good evening. Glad you came. This is a place for people who want to become a woman, who want to drown in that kind of pleasure. Usually it is women who come here, but sometimes men who want to become one...

That is a scene with a premise and a character explaining a situation. Nothing wordless about it. And I had already learned that long trials break the transcription, so I assumed that was what had happened here:

The cut looked like fifteen minutes. So I rewrote the measurement to hand the transcriber ten minutes at a time instead of the whole file, ran it again, and got 80 instead of 76.

Which is when I actually looked at what I had downloaded. The 56 minutes is ten separate files, each about five and a half minutes long. Nothing was ever being fed an hour at a time. There was no truncation to fix. The number was right and I had spent the afternoon building a solution to a problem this work does not have.

So: 90% of the runtime is speech, at a quarter of conversational density, with a low vocabulary spread. That is the signature of sustained vocalisation rather than dialogue, and it lands at Barely any. Which, for a work whose title is about how to moan properly, is not a surprising result. I simply did not trust my own instrument.

The rule now checks the length of the longest single file rather than the total, which is what it should have done from the start.

What "a long trial" actually means

The mistake is worth keeping because it points at something real for a buyer.

Fifty-six minutes across ten files is not the same offer as fifty-six minutes in one. Ten short files means you are getting a cross-section, probably one per track, chosen by the circle. One long file means you are getting the opening in sequence.

One long file tells you how the work opens, whether the premise lands, and whether you can stand the voice for an hour. It does not tell you whether it stays that way.

Ten short files tell you the range. It is the more useful of the two, and it is the one I mistook for a broken measurement.

Ninety-three seconds of trial, and it is the highest speech density I have measured. Different circle, different decade, a fifth of the price. That trial is doing one job: proving the voice can carry a continuous instruction without becoming annoying. It succeeds or it does not, and you know within a minute.

Fifty-six minutes and ninety-three seconds are both defensible choices. They just mean the free material is answering different questions, and it is worth knowing which question you are being answered before you decide the trial was good.

Where this leaves it

Rated Barely any, at ¥1,540, with 23,890 buyers and 4.77 from six thousand votes. If the language load was what was stopping you, it is not a barrier here.

The part I would not have found by being careful is the part I only found by being wrong: I had built a rule that measured the wrong thing, and it agreed with my expectations often enough that I did not notice until a work disagreed with it. The method page now carries this one too.
